We also try to keep up the log for our English speaking friends. We finally left Lübeck on the 13th of May. It was a nice surprise for us that some of our friends escorted us with their boats down to the breakwater where we set the sails. During the night we anchored off the coast close to the little town of Grömitz, because the wind decreased to almost zero. The next morning we sailed again against the wind to the Island of Fehmarn some 30nm away. We anchored there overnight. The next morning the wind had piped up to NW 6/7bft and we went inside the harbour of Orth/ Island of Fehmarn. We had to wait for 2 days due to the very strong headwind. In the afternoon of the 17th we finally sailed from Fehmarn, the wind deadahead. A few hours at sea the wind increased again to NW 6/7bft deadahead and the night was a little uncomfortable, the boat working hard. At 11.00h the 18th we arrived at the Kiel-Canal. At the 19th at 17.00h we cleared the Canal and entered the little harbour of Brunsbüttel. A few meters away from the birth we heard a cracking noise from the engineroom - the bearing of our propellershaft had gone. The next day Frank put a new bearing in and off we went towards Cuxhaven as always - against the wind! The Elbe River was verry choppy with the tide against the wind. Today we where visited by my sister Gaby, her husband Michael and Franks uncle Gerhard, they came together with Barbara, so the crew is now complete. On Tuesday we have to arrange some charts , than we will be ready to leave for the Nortsea.
